Blog Party!!!

MMButton

Welcome to my Blog!!! Well what a great way to start out this week for me... Blog Party and a new design for my Blog.  AWESOME!!!! So a little about why I started this blog was to keep family and friends up to date on how Dominick was doing.  Then when we found out that my son needed the DOC Band I decided to try and get my blog out there a little more because I did not have that much knowledge about the helmet and wanted other parents that might be in the same situation to see that it really isn't that bad.  My cousin's son had to wear a helmet and I went to her a lot with questions and how I felt like I failed as a mother.  She offered some great support.  I also had amazing support from the rest of my family and friends.  D-Listed Mom Blogs (Alissa) has done a great job at really getting blogs out there.  I love what she has done!  If you have a chance take sometime and look around at some old posts if not continue you on with the amazing Blog Party!!!!

  1. I love the look of your blog - and your button! Did you do it yourself?

Anyway - stopping by from the D-Listed Blog Party!

One of my twins has a flat side to his head - his head actually looks lopsided to me...I ask his doctor about it at every visit and she tells me that it's nothing to worry about - that babies get that way because we put them on their backs to sleep now. I am wondering if I should get a second opinion...he's 8 months old.

Your son is ADORABLE!! I was looking at some of your older posts and saw the picture of him in swing...so cute!

Glad I met you through the party!

  2. I guess I should pay a little more attention to what the heck I'm doing - didn't realize I'd talked to you a little on Twitter today, too!

Having 4 kiddos kind of makes your brain mushy sometimes! hehehe

  3. Jocelyn designed my blog. Her button is at the bottom she is GREAT!!!!

I noticed my son's flat spot at about 2 months and kept mentioning it to the doctors. I see a large group of doctors and each one had there own opinion that it would get better or try this or that and finall just before his 6 month appointment one of the doctors finally referred me to a specialist.

  7. Stopping by from the D-List Blog Party!

I actually have been talking to my pediatrician because my daughter and son are both starting to get a flat spot on the side of their head. We are working on repositioning them when they sleep. I hope it works, but it is good to know that it's not that bad if we do need to get them helmets.

  8. Here from the Blog Hop. That is one cutie patooty you have there! It seems like so many kids need the helmet... but hey, headgear is better than SIDS that's for sure!

  9. Hi Kacie! Stopping by from the D-list Blog party. Your blog is lovely, and the design is great. My youngest boy had plagiocephaly and began wearing the band around 5 months of age. He wore three separate bands and finished up around 15 months of age. His little head looks great now. There is still a slight deviation, but it's only noticeable to us. I too thought I was a bad mother for letting him get that way because he was born was a perfect head, but the point is to do what you can to correct it and what you're doing is the best thing for him. I'm also a SO FL mom.

BTW, to the other moms that commented regarding this, I recommend taking your children to be evaluated by the cranial specialists. They are the ones that determine whether or not your child is a candidate for the band, not the doctor. A pediatrician can only recommend an evaluation, not determine if they get a band or even if they need one.

  18. Hello...stopping by from the blog party! I actually saw your site on d-list a few weeks back. We have been worried about our daughter's head, she has got a flat side on the right. She just turned 5 months old last friday. I took her to the doctor for her eczema today and the pedi said she was going to refer us to a cranial doc since it is not getting any better. I am glad I found your site and hope you don't mind if I have some questions for you throughout this process. Not sure if we will need a doc band yet. Our appointment has not been scheduled.

By the way, Dominick is absolutely handsome. And I have 2 yorkies also!!! Love your blog and will be following!

  21. Blog Party participant so happy to have the chance to read your blog and get to know you!

Feeling like a failure as a mother is not difficult; it seems self-doubt was an unloveable trait I acquired the minute I found out I was pregnant! Four years in to parenting and I still find myself questioning myself and my decisions... it's really nice to have virtual friends to help validate me and my fears and encourage me along in this journey. Thanks to you for putting yourself out here for us all!
